The Bonne-Mère Distillery

The Bonne-Mère Distillery

The Bonne-Mère Distillery originates from a sugar plantation whose roots go back to the late 18th century.

In 1863, a sugar and rum production unit was inaugurated.
A century later, in 1973, the operation was reorganized to focus exclusively on the production of traditional rums and spirits.

Integrated into the La Martiniquaise Group since 1998, our distillery is now one of the largest traditional rum distilleries in the Caribbean. It has cellar with nearly 10,000 oak barrels, one of the largest in the overseas territories.

We are committed to an ambitious modernization program focused on energy efficiency and reducing our environmental impact, while preserving the integrity of our ancestral production methods.

The origin of the DBM brand

Nestled in a natural setting between the mountains of North Basse-Terre, the Grande Rivière à Goyave, and the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, at the foot of the tropical forest, we have for many years crafted our finest traditional rums.

The year 2024 marks a turning point for our distillery. Historically dedicated to wholesale distribution, the DBM brand was officially registered, celebrating its heritage by highlighting not only its spirits but also its rich industrial legacy.

Under the direction of its master distiller, the distillery carefully selects its finest barrels to offer you a memorable range of rums. With the launch of its own rums, the fruit of several decades of expertise and passion, DBM strengthens its presence on the international stage while celebrating its history and traditions.

Our emblem

The wetland, where our distillery is located, as close to the tropical forest, is ideal for the maturation and aging of our rums but is also home to nocturnal encounters with beetles, including the largest in the world, the Hercules Beetle or 'long sawyer,' which can reach 17 cm in length and a wingspan of 20 cm in flight!
Completely harmless, it is a protected species endemic to the Lesser Antilles.
As the emblem of our distillery, it can sometimes be spotted during its night flights at Bonne-Mère.
This emblem symbolizes the distillery's commitment to deeply rooting itself in the local economy and contributing to Guadeloupe's influence. True to its commitment to quality and authenticity, Bonne-Mère continues to promote environmentally friendly practices while solidifying its role as a leader in Guadeloupe's spirits sector.

The Bonne-Mère Distillery aims to prove that it is possible to combine tradition and innovation while preserving nature. The entire team is committed to passing on a sustainable legacy to future generations, making the Bonne-Mère Distillery a key player in the ecological transition in Guadeloupe!
